Subject: Hilton - interruption of water supply

Hello all

I have just been informed that the water supply to the Groenkloof
reservoir will be interrupted for emergency work undertaken by Umgeni
water tomorrow.

Please spread the word around to as many people as possible to those
that live in Hilton and Winterskloof areas that the reservoir will run
dry at about 12.00 mid day tomorrow, and although I am told by Umgeni
that water will resume pumping to the reservoir at 14.00 tomorrow it is
likely that many high lying areas will be without water for at least 8
hours after 14.00 which is 10.00pm.

Thank you

Ken

Pineapples & Welcome mats

Hi there all,

This morning's service was filled with stories of pineapples and welcome mats.
Cheryl gave a very interesting talk to the children about how the pineapple became a sign of welcome.
Check out this internet site for some info http://www.mindspring.com/~sixcatpack/pineappl.htm

Later in the service I challenged all the ministries of the church to put onto their agenda the question:
How can we be radically hospitable to those we minister to and those we need to?
I also made the appeal for us to open our homes and our dinner tables to new folk in the church and/or those we don't know.
The sermon is always on the website if you missed out and would like to catch up.

I am so relieved my phone is working again. Sorry if I missed any of your phone calls.
Have a great week.

"Fruity stuff"

Hi all,

For those who were not able to make last Sunday we started a series of sermons called "Appointed for Service."
We looked at John 15 and re-examined the purpose of God for the church - to bear fruit. If you want to catch up you can read by going to the church website (link below).
This coming Sunday we will be looking at 'radical hospitality' and what the implications of that could mean.

I shared on Sunday that I had recently been on a minister's retreat in Eston where Trevor Hudson was the guest speaker. One key thought was the 'cycle of grace' in Christ's life. His achievements and ministry were birthed out of the significance of his identity in God and not the reverse. So often we are caught up in our cultures message that our achievements and accomplishments are what give us significance and identity. Matriculants are burning the midnight oil as I write. Let us help them realize their marks are not what defines them, because nobody else will.
